Reference - PSA: Medal FAQ

This posting is intended to be a comprehensive description of all medals in the Star Pirates universe.

General Notes:

If a pirate earns a medal multiple times, the medal will appear once on their profile, with a 'x???' marker, identifying the number of times the medal has been won.

For each medal, the 'Last Awarded' time identifies the date on which the pirate most recently was awarded this medal.

Medals are organized on a pirates profile based on the time that they were last awarded. The most recently awarded medal will be in the top left corner of the treasure chest, and the medal that you earned the longest ago will appear on the bottom left corner. It is common for medals that can only be earned once to slowly move to the bottom of the list, while medals (Davey Jones, Officer Medals and the four Daily medals) take earlier placing.

Officer Medals

Commitment

Recognizes: This medal is awarded to a pirate when they have had an officer stay for five consecutive days.

Availability: This medal was introduced on June 4, 2009. The medal was not retroactively awarded. This medal can be earned multiple times.

Notes: The medal is awarded on the hour, but it is earned when the officer has stayed for five days. For example, if your officer passes the five day mark at 21:35, you will get this medal at 22:00 even if your officer leaves at 22:00.

Loyalty

Recognizes: This medal is awarded to a pirate when they have had an officer stay for seven consecutive days.

Availability: This medal was introduced on June 4, 2009. The medal was not retroactively awarded. This medal can be earned multiple times.

Notes: The medal is awarded on the hour, but it is earned when the officer has stayed for seven days. For example, if your officer passes the seven day mark at 21:35, you will get this medal at 22:00 even if your officer leaves at 22:00.

Triggered Medal

Escaped Davy Jones

Recognizes: This medal is awarded to a pirate when they survive a PVP battle with 1, 2 or 3 hit points remaining.

Availability: The Davy Jones medal was introduced on June 26th, 2009. It was not retroactively awarded. This medal can be earned multiple times. When the Davy Jones medal was introduced, it was available to all pirates. After a couple of weeks, the eligibility was adjusted to require a minimum level of 25.

Notes: The pirate can be the attacker or defender, and online or off-line. Battles with NPCs (Asteroid Belt, Deep Belt or Missions) do not count.

Treasure Chest Medals

Adventurous Pirate

Recognizes: This medal recognizes the pirate who has performed the most missions in a seven day period.

Availability: This medal was introduced on June 26th, 2009. It was not retroactively rewarded. This medal can be earned multiple times.

Notes: Awarded daily (at 24:00 system time) to the pirate who has accumulated the most mission points in the last seven days. The current standings for this medal can be found on the Treasure Chest Standings page. The last seven winners, and their totals, can also be found there. The 'Max Total' identifies the most mission points that this pirate has ever earned in a 7 day period. The medal does not identify when the max total was achieved.

Valiant Pirate

Recognizes: This medal recognizes the pirate who has rescued the most pirates in a seven day period.

Availability: This medal was introduced on June 26th, 2009. It was not retroactively rewarded. This medal can be earned multiple times.

Notes: Awarded daily (at 24:00 system time) to the pirate who has made the most rescues in the last seven days. The current standings for this medal can be found on the Treasure Chest Standings page. The last seven winners, and their totals, can also be found there. This medal can be earned multiple times. The 'Max Total' identifies the most pirates that this pirate has ever rescued in a 7 day period. The medal does not identify when the max total was achieved.

Feared Pirate

Recognizes: This medal recognizes the pirate who has attacked the most pirates in a seven day period.

Availability: This medal was introduced on June 26th, 2009. It was not retroactively rewarded. This medal can be earned multiple times.

Notes: Awarded daily (at 24:00 system time) to the pirate who has attacked the most pirates in the last seven days. The current standings for this medal can be found on the Treasure Chest Standings page. The last seven winners, and their totals, can also be found there. This medal can be earned multiple times. The 'Max Total' identifies the highest number of pirates that this pirate has ever attacked in a 7 day period. The medal does not identify when the max total was achieved.

Master Raider

Recognizes: This medal recognizes the pirate who has raided the most cargo in a seven day period.

Availability: This medal was introduced on June 26th, 2009. It was not retroactively rewarded. This medal can be earned multiple times.

Notes: Awarded daily (at 24:00 system time) to the pirate who has raided the most cargo in the last seven days. The current standings for this medal can be found on the Treasure Chest Standings page. The last seven winners, and their totals, can also be found there. This medal can be earned multiple times. The 'Max Total' identifies the largest amount that this pirate has ever raided in a 7 day period. The medal does not identify when the max total was achieved.

Level Medals

Admiral of the Black

Recognizes: Awarded to a pirate upon their reaching level 250.

Availability: This medal was introduced on February 26th, 2010. It was not retroactively rewarded, as no pirate had reached level 250 when it was awarded. This medal can only be earned one time.

Notes: Mr. Awesome was the first winner of this medal, on 2010-04-14.

Marauder

Recognizes: Awarded to a pirate upon their reaching level 150.

Availability: This medal was introduced on February 26th, 2010. It was retroactively rewarded, but if retroactively awarded, the date is Feb 26th. This medal can only be earned one time.

Notes: Mr. Awesome and Gilmore were the first pirates awarded this medal, both retroactively. Galaxiana has since earned it.

Corsair

Recognizes: Awarded to a pirate upon their reaching level 100.

Availability: This medal was introduced on February 26th, 2010 (to be confirmed). It was retroactively rewarded, but if retroactively awarded, the date is Feb 26th. This medal can only be earned one time.

Notes: Many pirates received this medal retroactively.

Buccaneer

Recognizes: Awarded to a pirate upon their reaching level 75.

Availability: This medal was introduced on February 26th, 2010. It was retroactively rewarded, but if retroactively awarded, the date is Feb 26th. This medal can only be earned one time.

Notes: Many pirates received this medal retroactively.

Privateer

Recognizes: Awarded to a pirate upon their reaching level 50.

Availability: This medal was introduced on February 26th, 2010. It was retroactively rewarded, but if retroactively awarded, the date is Feb 26th. This medal can only be earned one time.

Notes: Many pirates received this medal retroactively. If you reach level 50 while ascending and in Sol, you will only receive this medal one time.

Fleet Medals

Premier 300 Fleet

Recognizes: This medal was awarded to the pirates belonging to the first fleet that reaches level 300.

Availability: This medal was awarded on March 26th, 2010. This medal cannot be earned multiple times.

Notes: This medal was won by [DEV].

300 Fleet

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Recognizes: This medal was awarded to pirates belonging fleets that reach level 300. If the pirate belongs to the first fleet ([DEV]) to reach level 300, they will receive the 'Premier 300 Fleet' medal instead.

Availability: This medal was awarded on January 20th, 2011. This medal can be earned multiple times.

Notes: This medal was first won by [STP].

299.99 Fleet

Recognizes: This medal was awarded to a pirate who, through an unfortunate series of events, missed his fleet's level 300 medal by literally one second.

Availability: This medal was awarded on January 31st, 2011. The medal was not retroactively awarded.

Caption: Almost got the 300 Fleet medal.

Notes: It is unclear if this medal will awarded again, or the circumstances in which it would be awarded. This medal was awarded to den628.

Premier 250 Fleet

Recognizes: This medal was awarded to the members of the first fleet to ever reach level 250.

Availability: This medal can no longer be earned. This medal was awarded on June 29th, 2009 to [DEV].

Notes: Members of the second and later fleets that reach level 250 will receive the 250 fleet medal.

250 Fleet

Recognizes: This medal will be awarded to the pirate belonging to fleet that reach level 250. If the pirate belongs to the first fleet to reach level 250, they will receive the 'Premier 250 Fleet' medal instead.

Availability: This medal was first awarded on August 31th, 2009. This medal can be earned multiple times.

Notes: The Star Pirates Administration team changed the way that fleet experience was calculated after the DEV hit level 250. As a result of this change, the timing of the awarding of the Premier 250 medal and the first awarding of the 250 fleet medal were different, so both were awarded to DEV.

Lifetime Achievement Medals

AI Advanced Scout

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Recognizes: This medal is awarded to a pirate when they start 'AI Advanced Scout' mining. This mining job requires the pirate achive stats of 250,000 in each category and level 100.

Availability: This medal was first awarded on July 20th, 2009. This medal can only be earned one time.

Notes: This medal was first earned by Mr. Awesome.

Blitz Raider

Recognizes: This medal is awarded to a pirate when they raid a lifetime total of 1,000,000,000 cargo.

Availability: This medal was first awarded on April 28th, 2010. This medal can only be earned one time.

Notes: This medal was first earned by Raven Arrow.

Testing Medals

Bug Squisher

Recognizes: Recognizes players who made a contribution to testing of new Star Pirates functionality.

Availability: This medal was first awarded on March 4th, 2010. This medal was not retroactively rewarded.

Captions: Mini War Testing, Testing Leadership, Testing New Interface, Ascension

Subtitle: Earned by providing exceptional assistance in locating and eradicating pesky bugs.

Notes: Apt142 was the first to receive this medal. This medal has been given to formal testers of new functionality, as well as to pirates who report bugs found during their normal playing of the game.

Ascension Testing

Recognizes: Awarded to the players (not moderators) who tested the Ascension code, or reviewed the mission and protocol text.

Availability: This medal was first awarded on August 31st, 2010.

Captions: Given to Players who Helped Test Ascension

Subtitle: None.

Notes: Pirates who identified Ascension-related issues after the Ascension was released are not eligible for this medal, thought at least one pirate has received the Bug Squisher medal.

Ascension Medals

Ascended

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Recognizes: Awarded to all pirates who ascend.

Availability: Introduced on August 31st, 2010, the day that Ascension was released.

Caption: Earned after a Star Pirate completes an ascension.

Subtitle: None

Notes: Doc Lettuce was the first to win this medal. He earned it on September 1st, 2010.

Premier Ascender

Recognizes: Given to the first pirate who ascended.

Availability: Introduced on August 31st, 2010, the day that Ascension was released.

Caption: Awarded to the first pirate to complete Ascension.

Subtitle: None

Notes: Doc Lettuce won this medal on September 1st, 2010. This medal is unique, as a second ascension mission has not been released.

Additional Medals

Inventor

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Recognizes: This medal is awarded to pirates who make suggestions that are incorporated into the game - such as item suggestions.

Availability: This medal was first awarded on February 13th, 2010.

Caption: Venusian Heart

Subtitle:Given to players who have suggested an idea that is implemented in the game.

Notes: Apt142 was the first pirate (and so far only) to receive this medal, with the caption 'Vesuvian Heart'.

Community Leader

Recognizes: People who have made an outstanding contribution to the Star Pirates community.

Availability: This medal was first awarded on April 7th, 2010.

Caption: Outstanding Community Leadership

Notes: Galaxiana was the first pirate to receive this medal, with the caption 'Outstanding Community Leadership'. Hogan of the Harbour was the second pirate to receive this medal, with the caption 'Outstanding Community Leadership esp. with WebComics'.

Moderator

Recognizes: This medal has been awarded to moderators, in recognition of their dedication to the game.

Availability: This medal was first awarded on July 2nd, 2010.

Notes: This medal was retroactively awarded.

Mentor

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Recognizes: This medal has been awarded to players who made a substantial contribution to supporting new players. In the first instance, this was awarded for support of the Panda fleets.

Availability: This medal was first awarded on October 26th, 2010.

Caption: Awarded to pirates going above and beyond to help new players learn the ropes.

Subtitle: Mentor work with Panda fleets.
