Hello [FAM]ilia,

As you recall, I was looking for some bombs so that I could write a Combat Recap about a bombs work for a top-end pirate.

I've removed the ship and player names, but in a combat recap like this, it's somewhat hard to really hide the identify of the participants.

The pirate who performed the bombing gave us some commentary - I've marked it in italics.

In this example I do a bombing run where it doesn't matter what I have for a build. All that matters is you have an expert tech and use enough bombs. To highlight this I equipped a malfunction suit and still won a fight I normally never could have won even in my best build. When you are faced with a build or stats you absolutely cannot win against your only option is expert tech and between 70 and 90 bombs. This is a guaranteed win because of the +1 minimum damage, even against very high HP opponents.

Due to lucky rolls, in the example I actually waste about 10 bombs killing him down to negative HP. But had I only used 70 instead of 80 and a few more misfired it wouldn't have been a guaranteed kill.

The key here is the the 'Increase damage of bombs you plant by 1', as you will see. The 'Reduce malfunction chance of bombs you plant by 7%' will also have a point.

I've had to hide the stats for both of the pirates - but you will see that it won't matter that much.

Except that bombs do damage base on the current hull of the opponent, not the total hull of the start of the battle.

Each small bomb has a base malfunction of 40%. The Friendly Pirate's officer reduces this to 33%.
