Looks like I'm going to take a chunk out of him before I die.
Well, that's a bit of a surprise. This will happen about 1 in every 1,700 hits. Still - enough for me to get a second hit.
Note that as I'm fighting a juggernaut, my opponent doesn't have any hull bonuses because of higher engines. The 103 damage that I did is real damage.
Hey! I like the malfunction, but not the fact that the malfunction did 18 damage to me.
Oh well. It was inevitable.
I've spend some time trying to understand probability theory, so I'm not surprised when I see a battle when multiple unlikely events occur - but I am amused.
One key takeaway is having more engines than your opponent will always be helpful - it's always nice to damage the paint job of the pirate who crushes you. Being able to take a couple of hundred points out of your opponent's hull will mean that you won't be on as many farm lists.
